We arrived at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday afternoon. It was a beautifully sunny day, very nice, not hot necessarily, just light jacket kind of day. We rented a car and began on our way for some exploration of Southern/Central California.
My images of California in general has always been traffic, traffic, traffic. I was not disappointed upon leaving the airport. It's always a matter of, 'okay, here we are...now what do we do," when you first arrive at a vacation destination. Where to go? Bruce made a good call -- go to a beach and watch the sunset. The sun sets about 5:00 right now...seemed early to me... So, we looked at the map, I'd heard of Santa Monica, so that's where we headed. It seemed like a good choice...the Santa Monica Pier has an amusement park kind of feel to it.
Allison liked this tree...she thought it looked like a good sitting tree.
How cool is it to be able to actually get down into the sand on a beach in December? Tons of fun for a 7-year old!
That's a happy kid.
Beautiful sunset. I was actually very pleased with how this picture turned out with the sunset. I have just a 'regular' camera so I didn't expect anything this pretty. This, of course, is Miss Allison looking out toward the Pacific Ocean. So far, she has now been to the Atlantic Ocean when we visited Florida, and now the Pacific Ocean. Pretty good for a little kid.
Yes, she did even get to take her shoes and socks off and walk in the water. She said it was "kinda cold".
When we were walking back from having dinner and such on the pier, we noticed that there was a lot of activity down below the pier. We think that probably there was some type of film production going on here.
